Wood Finishes

We are committed to using only sustainably harvested wood. Our manufacturing facility undergoes frequent and rigorous IBAMA audits to retain its certification of 100% sustainably harvested woods. Brazil’s Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) offers incentives and enforces strict regulations to protect the rich resource and ensure realization of its goal of net zero deforestation by 2030.

Jequitibá

Also known as “Royal Mahogany,” Jequitibá wood was introduced as a cost-effective, lighter colored and lower heft substitute to Mahogany wood. Jequitibá has a clear grain structure, with the heartwood ranging in color value from light caramel-tan, to pinkish brown, with darker streaks contrasting the pale brown sapwood in the length of the grain. The grain is straight to interlocked with a medium luster and texture that runs from fine to medium-course.

With each piece of harvested lumber being unique, varietal graining patterns, inherent to natural wood, should be anticipated and expected. The examples below show how each wood species will provide a range of tones across a single piece of lumber, creating a unique aesthetic in the final product of all of our wood furnishings.

Jequitibá Aniline

Using Jequitibá as the substrate, aniline dye penetrates deep into the wood, adding depth to the finish with a truer color tone, highlighting the grain instead of camouflaging it.

Cumaru

Cumaru, also known as Brazilian or Golden Teak, is a naturally durable Brazilian timber with similar qualities to other exterior hardwoods such as Teak or Ipe. Cumaru wood exhibits the beauty of an interior hardwood, with naturally occurring inherent resistance to scratches, fungi, rot and decay, making it a superior choice for exterior applications. The heartwood tends to be a medium to dark brown, sometimes with a subtle reddish or purplish hue. The grain is densely interlocked with a medium texture and waxy feel.
